Eugene Onegin

Posted 28 Oct 2011

St Andrews Opera have announced their project for 2012. Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin will be sung in a modern English translation by David Lloyd-Jones.  The project has two components - a 'workshop' semi-staged production of a shortened version of the piece, directed by Ella Ormerod and performed with a piano accompaniment by Walter Blair. The entire cast for this phase of the project will be drawn from singers based in or near St Andrews. Later in the year, a fully staged production will be given in St Andrews and then London, directed by Kally Lloyd-Jones. This will be a joint production with a London-based university opera group, Bloomsbury Opera.  The performances in the Byre will be conducted by Michael Downes, those at Goodenough College, London by Jessica Cottis.
