The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and their chief conductor Donald Runnicles are to bring some of the world's greatest singers to Scotland to perform Wagner's epic opera Tristan and Isolde. Staged over three concerts between September 2012 and April 2013 at both Glasgow's City Halls and Edinburgh's Usher Hall, the concerts commemorate the bicentenary of Wagner's birth in 2013. Spearheading the casts are Swedish soprano Nina Stemme and English tenor Ian Storey. Also starring in this stunning programme are Peter Rose, Matthew Best, Robert Dean Smith and Petra Maria Schnitzer, world-class artists all.
Each act will be paired with a symphonic work, and the concert will be preceded by talks and discussions from star guests, ranging from A.L. Kennedy, James Naughtie, Graham Vick, and Tom Sutcliffe to Donald Runnicles himself.
Opera Scotland will post more information later; for the moment, check out our listings and get those dates in your diary! Click through for Act 1, Act II and Act III
