Opera A La Carte, paying their first visit to Scotland, are to perform Mozart's great opera at the Theatre Royal, Dumfries on May 26 as part of the Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival. This welcome appearance showcases their small scale production in the round. Set in the days of the 1920s Raj by Founder and Artistic Director Nicholas Heath, it stars Melinda Hughes and Juliet Schiemann as Fiordiligi and Dorabella respectively. Guglielmo and Ferrando, their lovers, are played by Jochem von Ast and Peter Wilman. Despina is sung by Canadian soprano Lynn Boudreau and Thomas Barnard sings Don Alfonso. This chamber performance, scored for wind quartet, is to be conducted by Music Director Susanna Stranders (a current member of the Royal Opera House staff) from the piano.
