Sir Walter Scott and Opera

In a striking new venture, Scottish Opera are marking the 200th anniversary of the publication of Waverley, the first of Sir Walter Scott's world-famous series of Waverley Novels. 

Three well known singers (Judith Howarth, Michael Colvin and Roland Wood) and their accompanist, Derek Clark of Scottish Opera, will be performing extracts from some of the operas inspired by Scott's writing. These include work by Donizetti, Rossini and Bizet as well as Arthur Sullivan and Scottish composer Hamish MacCunn.
