Exciting news for all interested in opera in Scotland - Julian Wagstaff's chamber opera Breathe Freely is to be recorded in June this year for CD/download release. The first Scottish opera to be commercially recorded for at least ten years, the project is funded by the University of Edinburgh in conjunction with Scottish Opera. The internationally renowned producer Calum Malcolm will record the opera, which is to be conducted by Scottish Opera's Derek Clark. The singers are Laura Margaret Smith (mezzo-soprano), Paul Curievici (tenor) and Phil Gault (baritone).
The libretto and vocal score have now been published and are available on the Europa Edition website here. Check out OperaScotland's interview with Julian here, then look at his website here.
