Work has been continuing to enhance the website. New information includes the following uploads.
See Cambiale di matrimonio (2015); Carmen (2016); Elektra (1912) and Flying Dutchman (1912).
Also Music Oft Hath Such a Charm (2016); Opera Proibita (2006); Orpheus and Euridice (1912); Signor Bruschino (2016) and Tristan and Isolde (1912).
In addition we can announce that we've finished uploading casts for Ernst Denhof's opera company which operated for three years just before the Great War.
Denhof was an Austrian musician based in Edinburgh. After devising and promoting a series of chamber music concerts, he came up with the hugely ambitious notion of staging Wagner's Ring in the provinces. This Denhof did first in Edinburgh in 1910. He went on to stage opera in the North of England as well. These tours have been well known and are referenced in many cultural histories. We have now included them in some detail, we think for the first time, on the grounds that we consider his company a Scottish one.
Denhof overreached himself due to a number of factors probably including scheduling and inexperience, and his company was taken over by Thomas Beecham late in 1913.
Try looking up for example Rheingold for 1913 here.
