The end of a day like any other. An ordinary family turn out the lights and put the cares of the day to bed. On the rim of the world and at the edge of the night, they travel beyond the everyday to an extraordinary land of dreams. With music inspired by memories of childhood, sleep and the magical powers of dreaming, On the Rim of the World is an evocative journey for families everywhere.
On the Rim of the World was commissioned in 2007 by eight of the UK’s opera companies for performance in and with their local communities. It is intended for a family audience involving all ages.
The composer is Orlando Gough and the writer Jehanne Markham.
