The Dance Marathons of the 1930s could last for months, with competitors stopping for only 10 minutes every two hours to sleep or change their clothes, eating while they danced.  The conditions were extreme, some dancers dropping dead in the fierce competition that has some relationship to reality television today. The work is scored for a six-piece jazz ensemble, and involves ten dancers and an MC to bring to life the soundtrack of songs from the era.  These include "Happy Feet", "We're in the Money" and Irving Berlin's "Let Yourself Go."
