First Performance in Scotland: Aberdeen (His Majesty's Theatre), 6 January 1921.

 

Background

Edward Naylor's opera was premiered at Covent Garden, having won the Ricordi Prize as the best new English opera. It received a further concert performance at Cambridge in 1914. The revival in 1921, which may have opened in Aberdeen, led to a further presentation at Covent Garden on 1 December 1921.
