Background

Leslie Stuart had enjoyed an astonishing breakthrough with his first musical comedy, Florodora, so, while the opening of The Silver Slipper was greatly anticipated, it is hardly surprising that it enjoyed a somewhat lower level of success. Even so, when Tom B Davis brought it to Scotland it ran for three weeks in Edinburgh and four in Glasgow before his company moved north of the central belt for the first time.
