Background
Isidore De Lara is certainly a minor composer, now largely forgotten, reckoned to be an excellent technician and orchestrator, but lacking the distinction of Massenet.. He composed several operas, two at least of which, Amy Robsart and Messaline were successful for several years, especially in Monte Carlo, Paris and London.
