New Sadler's Wells Opera was established with the specific purpose of performing operettas that were neglected by the major companies. Initially they concentrated on Viennese classics by Lehár and Kálmán, before adding Sullivan and Coward. Several of the productions were recorded.
The company was based at Sadler's Wells Theatre in North London (former home of ENO, now based at the Coliseum). When regional touring started, Scottish dates were restricted to three visits to Aberdeen.
