Madame Lancia's Grand English Opera Company

The soprano Florence Lancia led her Grand English Opera Company round large areas of the British Isles. So far, dates have only been traced for the second half of 1867, with one appearance of two weeks in Scotland. The centres visited included Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield, Glasgow and Cork.

The repertoire included Mozart (Don Giovanni); Rossini (Barber of Seville); Auber (Crown Diamonds); Bellini (Sonnambula); Balfe (Bohemian Girl, Satanella); Wallace (Maritana, Lurline), Gounod (Faust) and Verdi (Rigoletto, Trovatore, Traviata, Ballo in maschera).

In addition to the works listed below, the Glasgow season included Bohemian Girl, Maritana and Ballo in maschera, but not even partial cast details for those have yet been traced for anywhere on the tour.

Rigoletto and Ballo in maschera were both receiving Scottish premieres.
