Oliver Rundell studied Music at Cambridge University and trained at the National Opera Studio in London. For eight years he was a full-time member of the Music Staff at Scottish Opera, where he worked on over 30 productions, including the Ring cycle, and conducted touring productions of Die Fledermaus and Cinderella. For Opera North he has conducted Ruddigore and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Based in Glasgow, he combines his work as resident coach in the opera school of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a busy and varied freelance career, particularly focusing on contemporary music. He has conducted several premieres for the Research Ensemble and works regularly with Red Note and with Hebrides Ensemble. In 2010 he organised a rare performance of Maurizio Kagel's Eine Brise for 111 cyclists. As a pianist he has performed Messiaen's Quatuor pour la fin du temps, and is a founder member of the Beinn Artair Piano Trio.
