Actor and director.
Giles Havergal was Director of the Citizens' Theatre in Glasgow with Philip Prowse and Robert David MacDonald from 1969 until 2003. He both acted and directed with the Citizens' Company.
His operatic work includes productions for Welsh National Opera, Opera North, Buxton Festival, Wexford Festival and in Vancouver and Minneapolis. He also worked in San Francisco as an Associate Artist of the American Conservatory Theater.
His book adaptations include Travels with my Aunt, which won an Olivier Award after starting at the Citizens', David Copperfield for Steppenwolf Theater Chicago and Les Liaisons Dangereuses for ACT in San Francisco.
He directed two stagings for Scottish Opera, L'elisir d'amore. and Die Fledermaus.
