Grant Richards spent the first decade of his career as a member of the Scottish Opera Chorus, frequently taking a range of short solo parts. He then moved to Florence, spending thirty years as a member of the opera company there.
During that period, he and other ex-pat colleagues returned regularly to Scotland to perform in charitable concerts, including a 'Three Tenors' style event at Dundee Rep..
