Graeme Broadbent Suggest updates

Born Halifax.

English bass.

Graeme Broadbent studied under Lynden van der Pump at the the Royal College of Music, then with Yevgeny Nesterenko at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in  Moscow.

He has spent much of his career at the Royal Opera House, where his roles have included Verdi (Leone, King of Egypt, Dr Grenvil); Puccini (Colline, Timur, Angelotti); and Wagner (King Marke, Nightwatchman).

At Glyndebourne he has appeared as Sarastro and the Commendatore, as well as Foltz Die Meistersinger. Roles at Opera Holland Park include Sparafucile, Gremin, Nilakantha (Lakmé), Sulpice and Marchese di Calatrava. With ENO he has appeared as Don Basilio and as the Doctor (Punch and Judy).

He created several roles in The Adventures of Pinocchio which Opera North toured to Edinburgh. His other Scottish appearances have been with Scottish Opera, as Don Fernando in 1991, and rather more recently as Don Basilio and Trulove.

Work abroad includes Pinocchio in Stuttgart, Silvano La Calisto in Paris, and Seven Deadly Sins and Mahagonny Songspiel in Paris and Vienna. He has sung Sarastro in New Zealand and Claggart in St Petersburg. In Los Angeles he has appeared in Knussen's Where the Wild Things Are.
