Peter Sutton Suggest updates

Bass-baritone.

Peter is delighted to be returning to Byre Opera, having appeared most recently as Badger/Priest in The Cunning Little Vixen (2017). He studies singing with Jonathan May and has held scholarships for St Andrews Chorus and Holy Trinity Church, as well as a choral exhibition for St Hugh’s College, Oxford. Peter has specialised in performing Gilbert and Sullivan and has played a leading baritone role in all thirteen extant operas, including appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe and the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival. His acting and directing credits cover a wide range of drama from classics to new work, most recently premiering the performance ethnography for Errollyn Wallen’s Photography for the HARK Music Project alongside Laura Briody. He was awarded the 2017 Cedric Thorpe Davie prize for music and drama within the university. Peter’s recently submitted doctoral research into eighteenth century appropriations of Ben Jonson was kindly funded by a Cruikshank scholarship.
