Anton Niessner.
Austrian director and singer.
Anton Niessner appeared widely in leading roles in operetta. As well as his work in Vienna, he performed in Switzerland (Zurich) and Germany (Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Dresden and Munich).
Recordings include the role of Baron Mirko Zeta in Walter Legge's 1953 recording of The Merry Widow that featured Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Emmy Loose, Nicolai Gedda and Erich Kunz, with the Philharmonia conducted by Otto Ackermann.
