Božidar Smiljaniƈ gained a degree in Law at the University of Nottingham before embarking on a performing career. He studied in London on the opera course at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating in 2016.

He is a winner of the Blyth-Buesst Operatic Competition and the Sacred Aria Prize at the Mozart Singing Competition, as well as the Peter Hulsen Orchestral Song Award. As a RAM/Kohn Foundation Bach Scholar, he performed many Bach cantatas with the Academy Baroque Orchestra under Masaaki Suzuki and Ian Ledingham, and collaborated with Suzuki on tours of the UK, USA and Germany.

Operatic appearances include Royal Academy of Music (Figaro Le nozze di Figaro, Nick Shadow, Betto di Signa, Le Roi Cendrillon);  Glyndebourne on Tour (Masetto); Garsington (Haly L'italiana in Algeri); Scottish Opera (Schaunard).
