Joshua Bloom studied on Opera Australia's Young Artist Programme, then at San Francisco Opera on the Merola and Adler Fellowship Programmes.
Operatic appearances with Opera Australia include Escamillo, Figaro Le nozze di Figaro, Rodolfo La sonnambula, Leporello. In the USA he has worked at the New York Met (Masetto, Truffaldino); Washington National Opera (Colline); Los Angeles Opera (Masetto, Angelotti); Lyric Opera of Kansas City (Leporello); Los Angeles Philharmonic (creating Humpty Dumpty, King of Hearts, Red Knight & Mock Turtle in the world premiere of Gerald Barry's Alice's Adventures Under Ground).
Appearances in Britain include Garsington (Leporello, Alidoro, Don Fernando Fidelio, Harašta Cunning Little Vixen); ENO (Pirate King); Scottish Opera (Blansac La scala di Seta). He has sung with the LSO under Simon Rattle (Doctor Pelléas et Mélisande , Black-Party Minister Le Grand Macabre and creating Daedalus in Jonathan Dove's The Monster in the Maze).
He has appeared in Italy - Bari (Quince), Ravenna (Collatinus) and Reggio Emilia (Quince); in France - Caen (Pirate King); in Germany - Berlin Philharmonic and Simon Rattle (Black-Party Minister) and Luxembourg (Pirate King). In Japan he sang Quince at the Hyogo Performing Arts Centre.
