Leon de Souza trained with his mother, the American soprano Laura Harris and the great tenor Jean de Reszke. His repertoire included Gounod (Faust), Bizet (Don José) and Massenet (Des Grieux, Werther), as well as Mascagni (Turiddu) and Puccini (Rodolfo, Dick Johnson). In London in July 1910, he appeared in the British premiere of Strauss' second opera, Feuersnot, conducted by Beecham.
