John Hudson PhD student in Composition
John Frederick Hudson has received many accolades for his diverse and expressive style as a composer, conductor, pianist, and organist. Mr. Hudson is pursuing a PhD in composition at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland studying with the renowned UK composers Paul Mealor and James MacMillan. His further musical involvement includes his appointment as the Postgraduate Organ Scholar for the historic King's College, Aberdeen as well as music director for the Aberdeen University Opera Society.
Mr. Hudson earned a bachelor's degree in piano performance before turning to composition for his master's degree. As a keyboardist, he accompanies regularly and also specializes in collaborating with early music ensembles. Additionally, Mr. Hudson completed a second masters in choral conducting graduating with distinction from Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, New Jersey. He has studied conducting with nationally acclaimed conductors such as Helmuth Rilling, James Jordan, Joe Miller, Charles Bruffy, Edward Higginbottom, and James O'Donnell.
