Irish soprano.
Franzita Whelan studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music then in Manchester RNCM) and London (National Opera Studio), where she was sponsored by English National Opera.
Early operatic appearances include Clonter (Adina); London Handel Society (Tusnelda Arminio) and ETO (Countess Almaviva).
She quickly established an extensive concert career, with performances of Messiah in Dublin, Verdi's Requiem at the Royal Albert Hall, Tippett's A Child of Our Time in Birmingham and the Mozart C Minor Mass in Liverpool. Continental appearances include both Rossini's Stabat Mater and A Child of Our Time in Besançon.
