Frank Martin composed two full-scale operas, Der Sturm, based on The Tempest by Shakespeare and Monsieur de Pourceaugnac, derived from Molière. He also produced two dramatic oratorios. Le vin herbé was derived from the Tristan legend, while the second was a Christmas piece, Mystère de la Nativité.
