South African soprano.
Kelebogile Besong gained a BA in performing arts at the Tshwane University of Technology. She was a finalist at the 2013 Belvedere Singing Competition in Amsterdam and represented South Africa at the 2015 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition.
She made her UK debut at Grange Park as Musetta, repeating the role at the 2017 Edinburgh Festival.
She has sung at Malmö (Aïda), Tampere (Countess Almaviva); Munich (Musetta); Essen (Aïda); Liège (Echo Ariadne auf Naxos); Montpellier (Giorgetta Il tabarro, Dejanira in Weill's Royal Palace); Bregenz Festival (Fiordiligi); Savonlinna Festival (Musetta); Innsbruck Early Music Festival (Venus Venus and Adonis, Sorceress Dido and Aeneas); Oslo (in Mzilikazi Khumalo's Princess Magogo kaDinuzulu). For Opera Africa she created Gabisile in the premiere of Phelelani Mnomiya's Ziyankomo and the Forbidden Fruit.
