Joe Hill-Gibbins graduated from the University of Manchester in 1999. He was winner of the 2002 James Menzies-Kitchen Award for Young Directors. He is currently an Associate Artist of the Young Vic in London.
Productions at the Young Vic include A Midsummer Night's Dream, Measure for Measure, The Changeling, The Glass Menagerie, A Respectable Wedding and The Beauty Queen of Leenane. He has also worked at the National Theatre (Edward II), Almeida (Little Revolution) and Royal Court (The Village Bike, The Girlfriend Experience).
His first opera production was for ENO (Powder Her Face), followed by the Scottish Opera and Opera Ventures co-production of Greek.
