valentina Nafornita studied at the Stefan Neaga Music College in Chisinau, then in Bucharest at the National University of Music, where her teachers were Maria Slatinaru-Nistor and Eleonora Enachescu. She now studies with Sherman Lowe.
In 2011 she won the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition, also receiving the Dame Joan Sutherland Audience Prize.
She has been a member of the ensemble at the Vienna Staatsoper, where her roles have included Mozart (Susanna, Papagena, Pamina), Beethoven (Marzelline), Rossini (Clorinda), Donizetti (Adina), Wagner (Ada in Die Feen), Verdi (Gilda), Strauss (Naiad) and Puccini (Musetta).
She has also sung at La Scala Milan (Gilda) and the Berlin Staatsoper (Oscar).
