Maarten Engeltjes Suggest updates

Maarten Engeltjes began singing as a boy soprano from the age of 4, performing under the direction of Sir David Willcocks and making several recordings including the Allegri Miserere. He later trained at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.

His repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary pieces. He works regularly with Ton Koopman and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Choir and with Peter Dijkstra and the Netherlands Chamber Choir.

He sang in the premiere of Lera Auerbach's Dresdener Requiem (with the Staatskapelle Dresden under Vladimir Jurowski). He also appeared in the premiere of Gavin Bryars' The War in Heaven (Amsterdam).

Modern operatic roles include Adschib in Henze's L'Upupu at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw under Markus Stenz.

His recordings include Adolofo in Handel's Faramondo (under Lawrence Cummings). With Peter Dijkstra he has recorded the Handel Dixit Dominus and Bach Magnificat. He has also made a solo recording of songs by Byrd, Dowland and Purcell.
