English conductor and pianist.

Finnegan Downie Dear studied at Cambridge University and  in London (at the Royal Academy of Music).

He is particularly identifird with musiv of the 20th and 21st centuries. As  Music Director of Shadwell Opera he has conducted operas by Benjamin, Dove, Turnage, Schoenberg and Maxwell Davies, as well as music theatre pieces by Maxwell Davies, Schoenberg, Stravinsky and Walton. He has conducted the Polish National Opera (Die tote Stadt) and the RTE Concert Orchestra in Dublin.

As an assistant he worked at the Royal Opera Covent Garden, also at Zurich, Munich and the Salzburg Festival.
