Concentrating particularly on operas of the Italian bel canto and English baroque schools, John Andrews has conducted over forty operas. With ETO his work includes Handel (Tolomeo), Mozart (Don Giovanni) and Donizetti (Anna Bolena , Pia de' Tolomei). He has also appeared at Garsington, Opera de Baugé and Volkstheater Rostock.
His recordings include rareties of English music by Sullivan (The Light of the World; Incidental Music for Macbeth and The Tempest) and Gilbert and Cellier's The Mountebanks. Other recordings of Victorian orchestral music include Sherwood's Double Concerto and Cowen's 5th Symphony.
