Mr Tempest toured in 1867 with the Florence Lancia company, singing both buffo roles by Mozart and serious parts by Verdi.

Early in the twentieth century there was a famous singer and actress by the name of Dame Marie Tempest (Mary Susan Etherington 1864-1942).  Her mother's maiden name was Tempest - perhaps a relation?
