Welsh baritone.
Eric Roberts studied Fine Arts at Manchester University before gaining a scholarship to study singing at the Royal Manchester College of Music. His professional debut was as Papageno with Welsh National, returning for Guglielmo. His early appearances also included work for Kent Opera. With Scottish Opera he sang Tobias Mill in Rossini's Marriage Contract, which was televised by Channel 4 in 1986, then Trinity Moses in The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny. Further appearances include Bartolo in The Barber of Seville and Redburn in Billy Budd. He sang several Gilbert and Sullivan roles with D'Oyly Carte.
Work on the continent included Britten, with roles in Death in Venice (Antwerp and Ghent) and The Prodigal Son (Venice). He also appeared at Florence in Rameau's Platée.
