Born: Hamburg, 7 May 1833.
Died: Vienna, 3 April 1897.
German composer and pianist.
Johannes Brahms was a virtuoso pianist who composed a substantial quantity of music for solo piano as well as two piano concertos. He also composed concertos for stringed instruments as well as four symphonies. He was a great composer of songs. He did not compose any opera and his output of choral music is limited.
We include performances of his German Requiem to permit us to add some artists who would not be represented by opera alone.
