Jane Alison Glover CBE,
Born 13 May 1949.
English musicologist and conductor.
Dr Jane Glover graduated from St Hugh's College, Oxford, with a degree in Music. She followed her MA with a DPhil, the subject of which was 17th century Venetian opera.
In October 1973 she conducted Oxford University Opera Club in her realisation of Cavalli's La Rosinda. At Wexford in 1975 she conducted L'Eritrea,also by Cavalli. She first worked at Glyndebourne in 1979, and was Music Director of Glyndebourne Touring Opera from 1981 to 1985.
She has been Artistic Director of the London Mozart Players, and, since 2002, Music Director of Music of the Baroque in Chicago. She has conducted all the major symphony and chamber orchestras in Britain as well as many in the United States of America and across the world. She appears regularly at the BBC Proms and is a regular broadcaster, with highlights including a television series on Mozart.
Her books include Cavalli (1978); Mozart's Women and iHandel n London: The Making of a Genius (2018).
