Enrico Caruso Suggest updates

Italian tenor.

Enrico Caruso is generally agreed by those who heard him to have possessed the most beautiful tenor voice that they ever experienced. He was always a stylish singer and also a good actor. 

Caruso also dominated the early years of the gramophone, making numerous recordings of exceptional quality. One was even the first million-seller.

He appeared once in Scotland, but only in concert.

His first appearance at Covent Garden was in 1902 as Duke of Mantua. Caruso returned n 1904-7 and again 1913-14, by which time his voice was darker in tone.

Caruso appeared regularly at the New York Met from 1903 to 1920, giving some 600 performances in 40 roles. These included Dick Johnson in the premiere of La fanciulla del West in 1910. 

His most famous parts included Eléazar La Juive, Don Alvaro La forza del destino and Canio Pagliacci.

Earlier in his career Caruso created Maurizio in Adriana Lecouvreur and Loris in Fedora.
