Fred Drawater was for many seasons a member of the D'Oyly Carte company.

His solo appearances were sometimes in the person of Go-To in The Mikado, the character created to sing the bass line in the second act madrigal ''Brightly dawns'  if the baritone cast as Pish-Tush lacked the easy low notes required.
