Italian director, primarily based in Spain.
Leo Castaldi earned a degree in modern literature from the University of Siena. Initially drawn to photography, video and interactive installations, he secured a young artist scholarship in San Quirico d'Orcia in 2003. He relocated to Barcelona in 2005, where he transitioned into theatre, focusing on opera.
He has worked as a long-time assistant to Lluís Pasqual and collaborated with prominent international directors including Sir David McVicar, Stefan Herheim, David Alden and Terry Gilliam. For Sir David McVicar he directed revivals of La traviata at Teatro Principal, Zaragoza and Teatro de la Maestranza.
At Teatro Principal he has himself directed Il maestro di canto and Il barbiere di Siviglia.
