This really is a mouth-watering programme.  Ravel's superb opera has never actually been staged in Scotland, and that is perhaps not surprising, given the rather obvious difficulties involved. The orchestra did give the only previous concert performances back in 1975, in celebration of the composer's centenary.  That season, they presented an all-Ravel programme, and gave four performances, with Aberdeen and Dundee preceding Edinburgh and Glasgow.  The orchestra's principal guest conductor, Gary Bertini, was in charge of a cast of salaried principals from Scottish Opera.

This time, with only two performances, both in the central belt, the conductor is the orchestra's Music Director, Thomas Søndergård.  The  only cast member identified so far is the excellent Scottish mezzo Katie Coventry.  The other roles are to be taken by students from the current crop at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
