Italian composer.

Umberto Giordano was one of the leading composers of the verismo school, with an emphasis on dramatically powerful music. Of his ten operas, only Andrea Chénier (1896) is performed with any regularity, though Fedora (1898) has some fine music and justifies the occasional revival.
