English mezzo-soprano.

 

Anna Burfoed studied at the RNCM in Manchester, supported by the Peter Moores Foundation.

Her early operatic appearances in Britain were with Welsh National - Ursula (Beatrice and Benedict), Suzuki, the Page (Salome) and Maddalena. With ENO she sang Amastris (Xerxes), Anna (The Trojans), Maddalena, and the roles of Dresser, Schoolboy and Waiter in Lulu. With Opera Ireland parts include the title role in Giulio Cesare. Another of her Handel roles is Dardano in Amadigi, one of a series of Edinburgh Festival concert appearances. She also appeared in London at the BBC Proms as Hecuba in The Trojans.

Performances abroad include Gluck's Orfeo at Strasbourg, and Roswita in Héloise et Abelard at both Strasbourg and the Châtelet in Paris.

She also has an extensive international concert career.
