German lighting designer.

 

He worked as lighting manager within three German theatre organisations, starting at Theater Erfurt from 1976-8, then at the Deutsche Theater Berlin from 1978 -82, and the Schillertheater, Berlin 1982-6. After becoming a freelance lighting designer for opera, theatre and dance, he designed a number of opera productions. These include work at Mannheim (Idomeneo, La clemenza di Tito) and Stuttgart (Götterdämmerung, Die Zauberflöte, Kátya Kabanová, La juive).

He collaborated with Nigel Lowery on productions in Cologne (Der Wildschütz); Paris (Simon Boccanegra); Leipzig (Der fliegende Hollånder); and Amsterdam (Platée), as well as Vlaamse Opera (Candide)..
