The Scotsman, January 17 1876:
'Miss Edith Santley, a daughter of the famous baritone, made her debut upon the operatic stage on Thursday last, in the character of Angelina, in Cherubini's opera The Water Carrier, played at Liverpool to an overflowing house, by Mr Carl Rosa's company. Although the role was a very small one, Miss Santley, says our correspondent, achieved a fair success and was received with great heartiness. She sang the few notes allotted to her with a purity of sound and production which was not unworthy of her name, in spite of great nervous weakness.'
She sang the same role in Edinburgh in May.
