Brindley Sherratt is one of the most accomplished basses at present working in Britain.
His engagements in the 2013/14 season include Sarastro in a new production of Die Zauberflöte at the Vienna State Opera; Pimen Boris Godunov for his debut at the Bavarian State Opera and Claggart in New York's Brooklyn Academy of Music on tour with the Glyndebourne Festival production of Billy Budd.
Recent highlights have included Sarastro, Narbal Les Troyens, Ramfis Aïda, Gremin Eugene Onegin and Sparafucile Rigoletto at Covent Garden; Claggart, Rocco Fidelio and Il Commendatore at the Glyndebourne Festival; Balducci Benvenuto Cellini with Gergiev and Hobson Peter Grimes with Rattle in Salzburg; Sarastro at the Hamburg State Opera and at the Netherlands Opera; Banco Macbeth for the Opéra de Bordeaux; Pimen for the Opéra de Nice and Il Commendatore and Claudio Agrippina in Santa Fe. He has also sung Pogner Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg for the Welsh National Opera and at the BBC Proms; Filippo Don Carlo and Fasolt Das Rheingold for Opera North. His many roles at the English National Opera have included Ramfis, Pimen and Fiesco Simon Boccanegra.
Engagements in futture seasons include Sparafucile, Gremin and Oroveso Norma at Covent Garden and major debuts at the the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence and at the Metropolitan Opera, New York.
In demand on the concert platform he has appeared at the Bregenz, Edinburgh, Lucerne, Salzburg and Three Choirs Festivals and at the BBC Proms. His recent concert appearances have included the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House with Pappano; the Hallé Orchestra with Elder; the Scottish Chamber Orchestra with Nézet-Séguin; the Orchestre des Champs-Elysées with Langrée; the Swedish Radio Orchestra with Harding; the Chamber Orchestra of Europe with Nelson; the Rotterdam Philharmonic with Bicket and the Monteverdi Choir with Gardiner.
