Born Bristol, 20 December 1928.
Died Norwich, 8 April 1996.
English bass-baritone.
Donald Adams will be remembered for the thirty year period he spent playing leading roles in Gilbert and Sullivan works, first with the D'Oyly Carte Company, then with the Gilbert and Sullivan for All organisation.
Adams toured frequently in Scotland during those years both in theatre and concert performances.
He also appeared twice with Scottish Opera, first in a 1983 production as Alfred Doolittle in My Fair Lady, then as Bartolo, when his comic timing and his diction remained as effortlessly clear as ever.
