American bass.

Allen Hinckley made his debut in opera in 1903 in Hamburg, remaining there until 1908. During this period his roles at Bayreuth included King Henry (Lohengrin), Hunding and Hagen.  After this time in Germany he was based mainly at the New York Met.  He did appear briefly in Britain touring with the Quinlan company in 1911.

His recordings (Gramophone Co) include 'In deutschen Landen viel gereist' (Die Meistersinger) made in 1907.
