Lighting designer.
Robert B Dickson is Head of Lighting at Scottish Opera.
He studied and worked at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama from 1993 to 1998, gaining a Diploma in Stage Management Studies and working as in-house electrician on many studio, main house and television productions.
He joined Scottish Opera in 1999 as an assistant production electrician, He worked on Aïda, Macbeth and the Ring Cycle, among others, before moving up to Lighting Supervisor and relighting productions for the Company on tour, starting with Don Giovanni in 2001. Productions he worked on subsequently include Mozart (Marriage of Figaro); Rossini (The Barber of Seville); Verdi (Rigoletto, Il trovatore, La traviata); Leoncavallo (Pagliacci); Puccini (Tosca, Madama Butterfly); Stravinsky (The Rake's Progress).
