Andrea Bolton studied in Manchester at the Royal Northern College of Music and in London at the National Opera Studio.

She appeared frequently with Welsh National Opera in roles by Mozart (Despina, Blonde, Susanna), Johann Strauss (Adele) and Verdi (Oscar). A second Viennese operetta role was Valencienne in The Merry Widow with Opera North. With Scottish Opera she appeared as Cunégonde in Candide, and made her debut at the Royal Opera House as Ascanius when the company's production of Les Troyens toured to London. In Italy, she appeared at the Batignano Festival (Musica nel Chiostro) in a rare revival of Paisiello's Il re Teodoro in Venezia.
