English baritone.

Ashley Holland trained in Manchester at the RNCM and has worked extensively at ENO in London and on the continent. Early in his career he spent a season in the chorus of Scottish Opera. He represented England at the Cardiff Singer of the World competition and in Hamburg won the Ranieri 'I Cestelli' competition.

Operatic appearances in Britain include WNO (Peter Hansel and Gretel, Speaker Magic Flute, Dr Schön Lulu); Royal Opera (Spirit Messenger Die Frau ohne Schatten, Panthée Les Troyens); ENO (Germont, Ford, Sharpless); BBC Proms (Biterolf Tannhäuser).

On the continent he has worked at Lisbon (Athanaël Thaïs); Barcelona (Fieramosca Benvenuto Cellini); Lyon (Paolo Simon Boccanegra);  Frankfurt Jack Rance); Düsseldorf (Mr Flint); Cologne (Count Capriccio); Munich (Balstrode).

He created the roles of Mr Darling and Captain Hook in Peter Pan by Richard Ayres at the Komische Oper, Berlin, repeating the roles at Stuttgart, WNO and the Royal Opera.

He made his solo debut with Scottish Opera as Siméon (L'enfant prodigue), returning as Ibn Hakia (Iolanta). His first appearance at the Edinburgh Festival was with the Cologne company in Capriccio.
