Welsh baritone.

Gwion Thomas studied at the RNCM in Manchester. With Welsh National Opera he created the role of First Mate in John Metcalf's Tornrak, and also sang Figaro in The Barber of Seville. He appeared on two occasions with Scottish Opera, as Maitra in Snatched by the Gods (Param Vir) and then as William Godwin in the premiere of Monster (Sally Beamish 2002).

He worked regularly with Music Theatre Wales, his roles including Mr Punch in Punch and Judy (Birtwistle) and Blazes in The Lighthouse (Maxwell Davies), Man in Crime Fiction (Huw Watkins) and the Soldier in Stravinsky's Soldier's Tale.

Other work includes the title role in The Wildman (Nicola LeFanu) at Aldeburgh, and Eddy in Greek (Turnage) at its Dutch premiere in Amsterdam.

He teaches at the Birmingham Conservatoire.
